Physical emojis for Online sessions
I’ve always been a huge fan of using props, cards, dice and other physical objects when I deliver workshops or presentations. Having something tangible activates different areas of the brain, and when you teach someone a new concept or idea and there is an actual physical object involved, we store the information differently , this makes it easier accessible next time it’s needed.
Using physical objects can also add some change and a bit of fun to your virtual meeting, webinar or workshop. I’ve had great responses printing and cutting out emojis. Most online meeting platforms has a “reactions” section with a few emojis, and we’ve all gotten use to using emojis in our daily communication with family and friends, so it feels like I’m making things less formal when I use a physical emoji.
They need to be quite large to be viewable when you hold them up in front of the camera, but you can experiment with that. Below, there’s a download link for a pdf with a few the standard emojis and some WebEx icons I like to use to facilitate responses from participants.
Print out the icons and glue them to some card board or heavy paper and cut out. An have fun!
